This past weekend I had the opportunity to participate in a ski/snowboard photography workshop up at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort. It was run by professional action and lifestyle photographer Scott Markewitz (http://www.scottmarkewitz.com). He taught us many different things to help us take amazing photographs in tricky conditions. I finished editing and processing more images from New Zealand. This batch was taken within Mount Aspiring National Park on the South Island. Most of the photos feature the small tomtit bird, which hops around the forest floors and shows very little fear of humans thus allowing photographers like myself to get very close. I hoped to get out and photograph the Tour of Utah more this year, but unfortunately I only was able to photograph the riders once during stage 6. I drove up to the top of Emigration Canyon and watched the riders race down towards Little Dell Reservoir at insanely high speeds. During the end of my New Zealand trip we visited the Kawarau Gorge to photograph some bungee jumpers, but when we got there, everyone was being a scaredy-cat and no one was jumping. Well we didn't come all this way to see no one jump... so I willingly became the sacrifical lamb. Here is a gallery of the pictures from my jump. I was swimming today when I noticed some beauiful dragonflies that flew a little too close to the water and never escaped. However their misfortune was my gain as I fetched my waterproof camera and started shooting away. I spent a good 20 minutes trying to shoot this beautiful creature from different perspectives and was lucky enough to get some really cool photos. When I was out golfing today, I was walking up to my ball when I noticed a beautiful orange butterfly resting in the fairway. Luckily for me, there were no golfers behind me so I was able to sit down next to the critter and take some pictures with my phone. I love bugs that don't show fear thus allowing me to really work on framing the shots of them. While I was out golfing today I had the idea to take a neat photo featuring my golf ball and our cart. So after one of my amazing drives I positioned the ball and the cart and took a few shots with my iPhone. I like the look but I feel like with more time I could have done better. By 6:00 AM this morning I was already set up at Sandy Beach, awaiting the sun to arise over the horizon. Interestingly, I must have chosen a very good spot to watch the sunrise as there were about 4 other photographers gathering at the same location, and as the sun appeared we were not dissapointed. The dark blue waves crashed up against the lava rocks on the beach and created a stunning display. By shooting at long exposures I was able to capture the movement of the water as
